KINGSTON, Ont. (September 28, 2018) - The Queen's Gaels and Trent Excalibur women's volleyball teams are competing in a home-and-home matchup this weekend with game one going in Kingston followed by a second match Saturday in Peterborough.
FRIDAY
The Gaels took the opening matchup over Trent with a five-set thriller over the Excalibur. Both
Caroline Livingston and
Arielle Palermo combined for double digit kill and dig totals in the victory. Livingston added a game-high 13 kills to go along with 10 digs while Palermo had a team best 13 digs and 12 kills.
After taking the opening two sets 25-21 and 25-22 the Gaels dropped the next two sets as Trent forced a fifth frame to decide a winner. The Gaels pulled away late and secured the 3-2 win with a 15-12 set win.
Sierra Hardy finished with 40 assists for Queen's and the Gaels had a strong fifth set sporting a combined 0.467 kill percentage.
SATURDAY
Queen's visited Trent on Saturday for the Trent homecoming weekend and this time it was the Excalibur that got the better of Queen's.
The Gaels fell in another five set match between the two opponents 3-2.
Queen's will head to Vancouver for the UBC invitational to close out their exhibition schedule. The first match will be on Friday October 11.
