KINGSTON, Ont. (September 23, 2018) – The Queen's Men's Soccer Team (6-3-0) fell to the No.5 Carleton Ravens (9-0-1) 2-1 after a hard fought battle at Richardson Stadium.
GAME FLOW
Carleton got off to a fast start, slicing apart the Gaels defense on a 6
th minute goal by Jimi Aribido.
Carleton doubled their advantage off the second phase of a corner kick in the 25
th minute as Gabriel Bitar found himself unmarked at the top of the box, helping the Ravens secure a 2-0 lead heading into the halftime break while outshooting the Gaels 8-3.
Queen's came out strong to begin the second half, dictating play and holding a much higher percentage of possession.
They won their first corner in the 65
th minute and capitalized immediately with a headed goal from
James Michaelis, his first as a Gael, closing the Ravens advantage to one.
As the second half went on, Queen's continued to pile on the pressure down the left wing through defender
Kyle Owens and midfielder Nicholas Alie Day. However, the Gaels effort ended up being in vein as Carleton narrowly held on for the 2-1 victory.

"I'm more concerned… and proud of the performances than our results. That second half showed that we're a team to be made aware of and that we believe we can compete with anybody and make it to the final four." Said head coach Cristian Hoefler when asked about what his team will take away from the match.
