KINGSTON, Ont. (September 22, 2018) – The Queen's men's soccer team (6-2-0) were victorious in a 3-0 shutout over the Trent Excalibur (0-8-0). It was an all-around team effort that carried the team to their second win over Trent this season.

GAME FLOW
From the opening whistle the Gaels looked like a team on a mission. Coming off a tough loss to Ryerson last weekend, Queen's certainly looked like they were back on track.

The scoring started in the 23
rd minute Cameron MacKinnon placed a perfect cross-crease pass to
Michael Chang who tapped in his fourth goal of the season.

Despite the constant pressure on Trent's defence, the Excalibur were able to force the game into halftime only trailing by the single goal.

They managed to keep the game within striking distance until the 71
st minute where the Gaels would strike again.

Nicholas Theodorakakis sent a missile off a free kick into the top left corner in one of the prettier goals of the season. It was the rookie's first career goal in the OUA and as a Gael.

In added time,
Nick Alie Day would find the net for his second of the season and to seal the game for the Gaels.

CARD TROUBLE
It was yet another physical game at Richardson Stadium as five yellow cards were handed out during the match.

Trent's Thomas Reid received two of those cards, which was enough for his ejection from the game. From the 18
th minute onward, the Excalibur spent the match shorthanded with just 10 men.

BY THE NUMBERS
25 – The Gaels took 25 shots as they continually bombarded Trent's net. 16 of those shots were on goal as Trent goalkeeper Zachary Silva made 13 saves on the afternoon.
5 – Gaels goalkeeper
Alexander Dimock made five saves to secure his first clean sheet of the season.
10 –
Andrea Bragagna and
Noah Campagna combined for ten shots, with seven on goal. Yet luck was not on their side as neither found the back of the net.
9 – Nine goals scored in the two games against Trent this season. They've won both games by a combined 9-2 score.

FINAL SAY
When asked what the win meant for the team, Gaels' forward
Michael Chang responded: "It means keep moving forward, get another W on our record and getting us in good form for the big game tomorrow against Carleton."

UP NEXT
The Gaels will host the No.5 Carleton Ravens (8-0-1) tomorrow afternoon at Richardson Stadium. The Gaels will hope to become the first team to beat the Ravens this season. Game time for this must-see matchup is set for 3:15pm.
