OTTAWA, Ont. (November 2, 2018) – The No.6 men's hockey team (6-2-0) came up short in a 6-3 loss to the Carleton Ravens (5-1-2) on Friday night. The game was the first of two important matchups against OUA East rivals this weekend.
Friday's result allowed the Ravens to tie the Gaels in the standings for the top seed in the OUA East.
GAME FLOW
Right off the opening draw the Ravens took the early advantage as they scored just 52 seconds into the contest. Aaron Boyd put the Ravens in front off the pass from Brett Gustavsen.
However, the Gaels were able to respond and tie the game up as
Eric Margo scored an unassisted goal for his second of the season.
The Ravens who lead the OUA in goals per game struck twice more before the first intermission as Cody Caron and rookie Jacob Smith connected to give Carleton a 3-1 lead.
The second period began much like the first ended as the Ravens tacked on three more goals in the first six minutes. The sixth goal chased
Justin Fazio from the game as
Jack Flinn took over for the remainder of the game.
Queen's would score twice more before the game came to its conclusion.
Slater Doggett scored his team-leading fourth of the year with just one second remaining in the second period.
Then in the third,
Luke Bertolucci buried his second goal of the young season.
DOGGETT IN THE FINAL SECONDS
Slater Doggett is no stranger to scoring last seconds goals in Carleton. Last season, Doggett scored the game-tying goal in a late season matchup with under a second remaining on the clock.
He would later score the overtime winner in a heroic effort for the Gaels.
