Gaels find the net six times in win over Laurier

WATERLOO, Ont. (October 27, 2018) – The No.6 Queen's men's hockey team (6-1-0) defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks (1-6-0) 6-2 on Saturday night capping off an undefeated weekend from Waterloo after their win over the Warriors on Friday.

GAME FLOW
The Gaels did not start the game the way they wanted to as Anthony Conti buried the opening goal of the game just two minutes into the first period. Laurier jumped out to a 1-0 lead.

The Golden Hawks controlled the remainder of the first period as they outshot the Gaels 14-9, but key saves from Queen's goaltender Jack Flinn kept the deficit to just one.

Midway through the second period, the Gaels were able to get on the board as Slater Doggett found the back of the net for his third goal of the season. On the play, Stephen Gibson picked up his first point as a Gael.

Just two minutes later, Spencer Abraham converted on a powerplay pushing the Gaels into the lead 2-1.

The Gaels scoring frenzy continued as Liam Dunda completed the three-goal period for the Gaels as they headed into the second intermission break in a completely different position than they found themselves in the first.

As the third period resumed, the Gaels caught the Golden Hawks flat footed and continued their scoring barrage as Duncan Campbell scored just 29 seconds into the frame.

The Gaels would go on to add two more goals in the period which included Henry Thompson's first goal as a Gael and Slater Doggett's second of the game on the powerplay.

CHASING QUEEN'S HISTORY
Spencer Abraham picked up another goal and assist to add to his weekend totals. In the Gaels two wins over Waterloo-based teams, Abraham had five points which put his career total at 105, which is now just 11 points behind Aaron Fransen's 116 points for the Gaels all-time points record.
