KINGSTON, Ont. (September 27, 2017) – As Kingston Collegiate & Vocational Institute (KCVI) celebrates its 225
th birthday, Richardson Stadium and Tindall Field will serve host to an Athletics Celebration for the KCVI 225 reunion on Thursday, September 28.
To mark the significant anniversary, KCVI will host several events and activities during a special reunion weekend September 28 to October 1, 2017. The weekend will provide an opportunity for current students and staff, alumni and the downtown community to celebrate the tradition of excellence in athletics, arts and activities at KCVI.
To kick off the weekend, girls field hockey will take to Tindall Field as the KCVI Blues take on the Bayridge Blazers at 3pm on Thursday.
Culminating the Athletics Celebration day, the historic Centennial Bell football game between KCVI and Regiopolis-Notre Dame High School will take place at Richardson Stadium with the junior game at 6pm and the senior game at 8pm.
The Richardson Stadium event will include a special tribute to alumni coaches and legacy athletes who have been celebrated at the provincial, national and international levels.
"Our boys are very excited about playing at the new Richardson Stadium," said KCVI football coach Peter Brannan. "It's a real privilege to be playing there - especially against our old rival Regiopolis-Notre Dame. Look for an exciting high energy game pitting the KCVI Blue's old style power running game against Regi's contemporary pass attack spread."
The games will be open to the public with a $5 admission fee at the gate. No registration is required.
