Gaels fall in a shootout to Rams

TORONTO (February 4, 2017) - The Queen's Gaels (8-4-7-1) fell in a shootout 3-2 to the Ryerson Rams (4-2-11-3) at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto.

The opening period saw the home side Ryerson Rams strike first to take a 1-0 lead. Queen's was quick to respond however, as Addi Halladay (North Augusta, Ont.) notched her 11th goal of the season. Claire Warren (Halifax) got the start for Queen's and turned aside 10 shots in the opening period.

Just 3:26 into the second period the Rams regained their lead on a goal that beat Warren. With 1:06 left in the second, Gaels captain Jessica Wakefield (Lucan,Ont.) scored to once again tie the game.

After neither team was able to score in the third period the game headed to overtime. Ryerson fired 10 shots to the Gaels six in the two extra frames but both goaltenders held their ground.

In the shootout Ryerson connected twice to take the win.
