WINDSOR, Ont. (February 10, 2017) – The Queen's Gaels (8-4-8-1) were defeated by the Windsor Lancers (10-1-8-2) 3-0 Friday evening in OUA women's hockey action from Windsor. The Lancers move into a tie for 5th in the OUA while the Gaels fall to 7th and sit just two points ahead of Brock who is just outside the playoff picture in 9th.
GAMEFLOW
The Lancers held the momentum throughout entire game, scoring three straight goals to take a 3-0 victory. The first Lancer goal was minutes into the first period. Larissa Borowiec scored, with Shawna Lesperance and Jillian Rops assisting. This gave Windsor a 1-0 lead heading into the second period.
In the second, Windsor scored two more goals. Kennedy Snively scored for the Lancers, with Amy Maitre and Natalie Barrette assisting. One minute later, Jillian Rops scored on the powerplay, with Ashley Maitre and Sydney Dobbin picking up the assists. The third period proved to be scoreless, allowing the Lancers to take a 3-0 final.
The Lancers out-shot the Gaels 28-16 and picked up three points which put them back into the playoff picture.
