KINGSTON, Ont. (November 25, 2017) – Hosted on home terrain at Fort Henry, the Queen's Gaels were well represented at the Canadian National Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
The national meet saw a gold medal performance from Gaels runner
Claire Sumner (Calgary, Alta.), who clocked a time of 34:48.9 in the senior women's 8km race.
The fifth year runner improved two spots from her third place finish at the 2016 Canadian National Championship meet last year.
Followed closely behind Sumner was former Queen's runner and All-Canadian
Julie-Anne Staehli (Lucknow, Ont.). Staehli finished in fifth with a time 35:33.2.
Branna MacDougall (Kingston, Ont.), the youngest of the Gaels runners, crossed the finish line in 35:42.5, good for ninth place of the 67 participants.
