GAELS THIS WEEK – Queen’s Women’s and Men’s Basketball hosts Windsor in Games of the Week

GAMES OF THE WEEK
Women's Basketball
The Gaels women's basketball team (5-1) will return to home court when they host the Windsor Lancers (5-1) at the ARC Friday night in Game of the Week. Game time is set for 6pm.

Dropping a 72-70 decision to Laurier in Waterloo last weekend, the Gaels were handed their first loss of the season that saw their five-game win streak snapped. Queen's will look to bounce back against the Lancers on Friday, who share the same strong 5-1 record as them.

Last season, the then first-seeded Queen's Gaels took down the fourth-seeded Windsor Lancers 64-56 during OUA semifinal action at home to advance to the Critelli Cup. The Lancers went on to win the bronze medal over McMaster in the consolation final.

Look for Veronika Lavergne to have another big game in the paint. The Gaels post has been hot, averaging 16.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Queen's will also welcome the Western Mustangs (3-4) to the ARC on Saturday night at 6pm.

Men's Basketball
Following a thrilling 77-76 victory over Laurier last weekend, the Queen's men's basketball team (4-2) will look to keep rolling when they host the Windsor Lancers on Friday night as the Game of the Week feature. Tip-off is set for 8pm.

Friday's game will be a rematch of the epic comeback that the Tricolour fell just short of against the Lancers last season. The Gaels fought back from an early 20-point deficit, but came up by just a single-point in Windsor with a 78-77 decision. On the day, the Gaels were led by Tanner Graham, who put up a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds.

The Tricolour will look to Graham to have another clutch performance against the Lancers on Friday night. The fourth year guard put up 33 points and 17 rebounds last weekend at Waterloo and Laurier.

A quick turnaround will see the Gaels return to home court on Saturday night for a matchup against the Western Mustangs (3-4).

Admission for students is free. For tickets, head to www.gogaelsgo.com/tickets. Can't make it to the basketball games? Watch them both live on OUA.tv at 6pm/8pm Friday and Saturday.

Women's Hockey
Jumping two spots on the national rankings, the newly ranked No.8 Queen's women's hockey team (7-2-0-1) returns to home ice on Saturday afternoon to face off against the visiting Toronto Varsity Blues (4-0-4-1) at the Memorial Centre. Puck drop is set for 2:30pm. Following Saturday's matchup, the Gaels will host Ryerson on Sunday at 2:30pm.

Clinching their seventh straight win last weekend over UOIT, the Gaels will look to add two more victories to their win streak this weekend. Against the Ridgebacks, goaltender Stephanie Pascal notched her third shutout of the season and has seven wins under her belt – the most of any goaltender in the OUA.

The Queen's Gaels remain undefeated in regulation time, situating them at the top of the OUA standings with a 6-point cushion over second place. Thirteen points ahead of Toronto this season, the Gaels will look to redeem themselves for last year's double overtime 2-1 playoff loss to the Varsity Blues.

Likewise with Ryerson, the Gaels were unable to defeat the Rams last year, dropping a 4-3 and 3-2 decision during the regular season.

With momentum on their side, Queen's will come out strong against their Toronto counterparts this weekend.

Admission for students is free. For tickets, head to www.gogaelsgo.com/tickets. Can't make it to the games? Watch Saturday and Sunday's fixtures live on OUA.tv at 2:30pm.

Men's Hockey
The Gaels men's hockey team (6-3-3) got back to their winning ways last weekend with back-to-back wins over Laurentian and Nipissing up north.

Rolling offensively, an 8-2 victory over Laurentian saw a four-point night from Gaels forward Ryan Bloom.

Looking to this weekend, Queen's will host the Windsor Lancers (5-4-3) at the Memorial Centre. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm. Meeting the Lancers twice last year during the regular season, it was the Tricolour who came out victorious on both occasions with 4-3 and 1-0 back-to-back victories on Windsor ice.

The Gaels will also welcome the Western Mustangs (3-8-1) on Saturday night at 7:30.

Admission for students is free. For tickets, head to www.gogaelsgo.com/tickets or watch both the games live on OUA.tv.

Women's Volleyball
The Queen's women's volleyball team (5-1) will hit the road for the second weekend in a row, this time heading to London and Windsor to take on the Western Mustangs (3-2) and the Windsor Lancers (3-4) at 6pm on Friday and Saturday night.

After a 3-0 sweep over Lakehead in Thunder Bay last weekend, the Gaels are looking to push their win streak to four when they enter Mustang territory this weekend.

The women's volleyball team will be out for redemption, as the purple and silver beat the Gaels 3-1 at the Western Invitational earlier this season.

Last weekend, Shannon Neville recorded 7 kills, 3 aces and 3 blocks against the Thunderwolves. On another road trip, the Tricolour will look to the outside hitter to have another dynamic performance.

Watch the matches on Friday at 6pm on OUA.tv.

Men's Volleyball
The Gaels men's volleyball team (4-1) will accompany the women's side on the trip to London and Windsor this weekend, with matchups against the Western Mustangs (3-2) and Windsor Lancers (3-2).

Coming into the Western match, the Tricolour will push to move their win streak to four games in-a-row. Against the Mustangs last season, the Gaels came out on top during a five-set match on home court with the scores 21-25, 25-19, 15-25, 25-18, and 15-12.

Following Friday's game, the Gaels will have the night to recover and prepare for the Windsor Lancers the following day. Game time is set for 8pm in Windsor.

Watch the Windsor match on OUA.tv at 8pm.
