KINGSTON, Ont. (August 24, 2016) The Queen's Gaels men's basketball team took down another NCAA opponent as they secured a 76-57 win over the division II Northwood Timberwolves on Tuesday afternoon at the ARC in Kingston in exhibition play. The Gaels defeated the division I Morgan State Bears team last Tuesday evening 76-74.Â

Tanner Graham (Kingston, Ont.) led all scorers with 20 points while
Jesse Graham (Kingston, Ont.) added 14 of his own in the Gaels victory. Northwood was led by PJ Weaver who notched a team-high 12 points while adding seven rebounds.
GAME FLOW
Queen's came flying out of the gate against Northwood starting with a 6-0 run highlighted by a Tanner three-pointer. Northwood proved sluggish to start having played the previous evening at St. Lawrence College where they defeated the Vikings 79-61. With the score 9-4 for the Gaels they rattled off another 13 straight with
Sammy Ayisi (Toronto) finished with six of the 13 and the Gaels took a 24-7 lead into the second.
In the second quarter, David Jelinek nailed a jumper, picked up a steal and nailed another to cut the Gaels lead down to 34-20.
Queen's stopped the Timberwolves thanks to an eight-point run after a timeout highlighted by a pair of Jesse jumpers. The Gaels went into the half with a comfortable 41-22 lead.
Tanner shot the lights out in the third as he hit all five shots he took including a pair or triples for 12 alone in the frame.
Vincent Wood (Toronto) was the only other Gael to score in the quarter adding seven of his own.
Queen's was outscored for the first time in a quarter in the fourth 21-16 but it wasn't enough for Northwood. Queen's picked up the victory 76-57.

The Gaels will take a break from action for a few weeks until they return to the hardcourt for their annual exhibition game at St. Lawrence College in Kingston. That game will take place on Wednesday, September 28 at 8:00pm at the SLC Gymnasium.
