Women finish 9th, men 12th at OUA Track and Field

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Queen's Gaels track and field team took home a 9th place finish on the women's side and a 12th place standing on the men's side.

Taylor Sills had one of the best finishes over the weekend for the Gaels as she competed in the 3000m finishing 6th place in a time of 10:15.97 giving the Gaels three team points. Lindsay Kary finished closely behind in 13th. In the 60m hurdles Mary Ollier gave the Gaels another three points as she placed 6th in a time of 8.89.

On the men's side 
Jeff Archer had a 9th place showing in the 3000m in a time of 8:34.81 and the men's 4x400m team of Nate Niederman, Matt Corolos, Ewan MacKenzie and Steve Wilkins-Reeves finished 8th in a time of 3:33.063.

Following two days of competition, the University of Guelph Gryphons women and University of Windsor Lancers men are the 2016 OUA Track and Field Champions.  This is the Lancers 23rd OUA championship in the past 26 seasons, while the Gryphons captured the Waterloo Trophy for the third time in the past four seasons.

With a total of 35 gold medals awarded and seven new OUA meet records the 2016 OUA Championships are a wrap from the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse in Windsor, Ont.

The Gryphon women dominated this weekend's event, finishing with 178 points, followed by the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in second with 131, one point ahead of the Western Mustangs who earned 130.

On the men's side, the host Lancers earned 174 points to take home the 2016 team title. Guelph placed second with a combined 143 points, and Western was third with 96 points.
