Gaels fall on the road to Waterloo 3-1

WATERLOO, Ont. (November 18, 2016) - The Queen's Gaels (2-4) took the opening set but fell 3-1 to the Waterloo Warriors (2-2) in Waterloo.  The Gaels opened the game strong by taking the first set 25-22 but fell short of the Warriors losing the next three sets 25-17, 25-18 and 25-11.

GAME FLOW
The first game was a close one, with no lead exceeding three points for either team it was clear for the Gaels that the Warriors had come to fight.  Isabelle Korchinski (Anmore, B.C.) was able to start a run of three points with an ace to take the set to 23-20 for the Gaels.  A huge block by Queen's Danielle Corrigan (North Vancouver, B.C.) and Nicola Ros (North Vancouver, B.C.) sent the Gaels to a 25-22 victory in the first set.

The next three frames however did not fall the Gaels way. Waterloo was able to battle back from the early deficit to take three straight.

In the second Waterloo took 16 of the first 23 points, leaving Queen's unable to keep pace late. A similar fate in the third set led to a 25-11 final set to give Waterloo the win.

Korchinski finished with eight kills and 17 digs to lead the Gaels while Claire Mackenzie paced the Warriors with 15 points and 11 digs.
