Doggett scores short-handed in Gaels 1-0 win against RMC

KINGSTON, Ont. (October 26, 2016) – The Queen's Gaels (4-1-1) got by the RMC Paladins (1-5-0) Wednesday night at the Memorial Centre on a short-handed marker from Slater Doggett (Oakville, Ont.).

GAME FLOW
The first period saw even action from both teams. Gaels goaltender Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) made a number of big saves to keep the Paladins off the scoreboard. In spite of power-play chances coming at both ends of the rink, the score remained 0-0 after 20 minutes.

In the second period, the Gaels were able to get on the board. Seven minutes in, Doggett out-skated a Paladins defenseman to score a short-handed breakaway goal that proved to be the only goal of the period. Heading into the second intermission, Queen's was up 1-0.

The third period was once again a tight contest. The Gaels had a number of chances, including another shot from Doggett, but this one hit the crossbar. In the final minute of the game, the Paladins pulled goaltender Matthew Murphy for an extra attacker. Bailie stood tall in the Queen's net as time expired to preserve the 28 save shutout.
