Women's Rugby
The No.7 women's rugby team (3-2) hosts the York Lions (3-2) in the first round of the OUA playoffs on Nixon Field at 3pm on Saturday.

Queen's earned home field advantage last weekend in a playoff preview against York, beating the Lions 55-5 on Nixon Field. The Gaels ticked all the boxes to catch York in the standings, and did so largely in part to the CIS Athlete of the Week, Miranda Seifert (Regina). The on-field captain for the day, Seifert dominated play from the get-go, scoring the first two tries of the game to give Queen's the lead. Seifert finished the day with five tries and has since been named the Queen's, OUA, and CIS Athlete of the Week. Nadia Popov (Newmarket, Ont.) moved up the scoring ranks with 10 points from conversions, bringing her season total to 42.

York couldn't clinch home field advantage last week against Queen's, only managing to score one try in the 55-5 loss. The result dropped York to third in the OUA's Russell Division, while the Gaels jumped to second. Tobi Owotomo scored her league-leading 12th try of the season last weekend, showcasing her speed and ability to make defenders miss.

See it in person or watch it live on OUA.tv.

Men's Rugby
The men's rugby team (4-1-1) plays their final home game of the regular season against the Brock Badgers (3-3) on Nixon Field at 1pm on Saturday.

Last weekend, the Gaels looked dominant against Trent last weekend under the lights on Nixon Field, leaving the game with a 44-17 win. Queen's jumped out to a 32-0 lead before subs came into the game in the second half. Dylan Young (Toronto) set the tone for the tricolour, scoring the first 13 points of the game on two tries and a penalty goal.

The Badgers haven't been able to string two wins together this year, but are coming off their third win of the season, a 29-12 game at Waterloo. The 29 points they scored last weekend are the second highest of the season for Brock, only bested in a 34-19 win over Toronto.

See it in person or watch it live on OUA.tv.

Women's Soccer
The women's soccer team plays Friday at 5pm against the No.8 UOIT Ridgebacks (10-2-1) and Sunday at 1pm against the Trent Excalibur (2-10-1). The Friday evening game will be played on Miklas-McCarney Field, while Sunday's game will be in Richardson Stadium.

Last weekend, the Gaels picked up a pair of wins at Ryerson and Toronto. Brittany Almeida (Kingston, Ont.) scored the first goal in both games, and added her third goal of the weekend later in the game against Toronto.

UOIT suffered their first loss since the season opener back in August, losing 1-0 to Laurentian last weekend. Prior to that, the Ridgebacks had won 10 consecutive games, their most recent win a 7-0 game over Nipissing. UOIT edged Queen's 1-0 when the two teams met in September.

Trent is winless in October after a loss to Laurentian and a tie against Nipissing. The Gaels got the upper hand when Queen's visited Trent, beating the Excalibur 4-0 on a hattrick from Rachel Radu (Ottawa) and goal from Almeida to open the floodgates.

Men's Soccer
The men's soccer team (5-4-3) hosts the UOIT Ridgebacks (3-7-3) Friday at 7pm on Miklas-McCarney Field before heading into Richardson Stadium for Sunday's 3:15pm matchup with the Trent Excalibur (2-8-3).

The Gaels brought a six game winless streak to an end last weekend when they doubled up a nationally ranked team from Toronto 4-2. Goal-scorers for the Gaels were Tonko Bacelic (Mississauga, Ont.), Andrew Martin (Kingston, Ont.), Patrick Van Belleghem (Kenora, Ont.), and Briam Jimenez-Lopez (Brampton, Ont.), while Alex Jones (Comox, B.C.) picked up the win in goal.

UOIT is looking to halt a four game winless streak after picking up a pair of ties against Nipissing and Laurentian last weekend. When the Ridgebacks hosted the Gaels earlier this year, Queen's got the better of their hosts in a 3-1 decision.

The Excalibur earned their second win of the season last weekend in a 3-0 shutout of Nipissing, which marks the first time Trent has scored three goals in a game this year. When Queen's visited Trent in September, the Excalibur played the Gaels to a 1-1 tie.

Cross Country
The Gaels host their annual cross country meet on Fort Henry Hill on Homecoming Saturday with the women set to start at 12pm and the men to begin at 1pm.

The Queen's Invitational will be the first women's collegiate race in North American history to be run over the same course as the men's event, and, at 8km, it will be longest distance ever contested by women at the intercollegiate level.

On the women's side, the Gaels are looking to get back into the CIS rankings with a strong showing from their full squad this weekend. Standouts Julie-Anne Staehli (Lucknow, Ont.) and Claire Sumner (Calgary) will be making their season debut to add to a competitive Queen's roster.

The men's program is still dealing with the loss of Alex Wilkie to injury. Returning athletes Eric Wynands (Lyn, Ont.) and Mark Schmidt (Gads Hill, Ont.) will be looked to as leaders on the team, while a solid crop of second and third year athletes look to find their place.

Women's Hockey
The women's hockey team plays their first game of the season at the Memorial Centre on Saturday at 7:30pm against the Nipissing Lakers. Queen's also hosts the York Lions on Sunday at the Memorial Centre, with puck drop set for 2:30pm.

The Gaels will be looking for revenge as they play their season opener against a Nipissing team that sent Queen's packing in the first round of the OUA playoffs last year. During the 2015-16 regular season, the Gaels and Lakers split their two meetings, with the home team winning 3-2 on both occasions.

Queen's also split last year's regular season series with their Sunday opponent, York. Home ice advantage was key once again, as the visitors were 2-1 losers in both matchups.

Get your tickets while they last on gogaelsgo.com/tickets or watch it live on OUA.tv.

Men's Hockey
The men's hockey team (1-1) plays just one game this weekend, hosting the Nipissing Lakers (0-2) at the Memorial Centre on Friday at 7:30pm.

Queen's started the regular season off with a close 4-3 loss to Carleton before doubling up Ottawa in a 4-2 win. Eric Ming (Williamstown, Ont.) and Slater Doggett (Oakville, Ont.) are tied atop the OUA scoring chart with five points each after the weekend, while Ming is also the top goal scorer in the conference with four goals through two games.

Nipissing opened their season with a pair of home losses to No.10 Concordia. The Lakers were blanked in the first game 6-0 before suffering a 3-1 loss the next day. Colin Campbell scored the lone goal for Nipissing in the dying seconds of the game.

Get your tickets while they last on gogaelsgo.com/tickets or watch it live on OUA.tv.
