KINGSTON, Ont. (August 27, 2015) – The men's soccer team closes out their preseason with a 3-1 victory over the University of Ottawa.
GAME FLOWThe Gaels got on the scoresheet early in the game with a strike by last year's leading scorer
Jacob Schroeter (Ottawa) in the 14th minute. The Gaels controlled the pace of the game for most of the first half. The Gaels added another goal just before the break of half-time with a 30 yard strike by Nick Bernal that caught the goalkeeper off his line.
The second half featured more back and forth action with both teams having quality scoring chances. Ottawa's Nick Faubert got one back for the visitors scoring a goal from the top of the box in the 71st minute to bring the game within reach. Ottawa really brought the pressure late in the second half and came close to evening up the score, but Gaels goalkeeper Kyle Lanzinger made key saves.
