TORONTO, Ont. (November 7, 2015) – The Gaels (4-1) went three sets to one against the York Lions (3-3) this Saturday night.
GAME FLOW It was a tight first set with Gaels getting out in front by a slim margin to lead 16-15 at the technical timeout. They maintained this lead until the end of the set which they won 25-22. York responded in the second, getting ahead early and holding onto the lead to take the set 25-23 and tie it up at 1-1.
The third set was a tough fought battle with York getting four points down right off the bat and leading into the technical timeout 16-15. The Gaels caught them at 23 and battled to get ahead, narrowly winning the set 26-24.
The Gaels kept their momentum high going into the final set, managing to lead at the technical timeout and beating out the Lions to put away their third set 25-20.
Marko Dakic (Mississauga, Ont.) and
Chris Brunet (Calgary, Alta.) were powerhouses for the Gaels in their win, both smashing down 13 kills a piece while Dakic picked up six digs and Brunet 10. The Lions were led by Nicolas Pirnat with 19 kills as well as Arthur Szwarc with 14 kills and three aces.
