WINDSOR, Ont. (November 14, 2015) – The Gaels (5-1) stretched their winning streak to four games this Saturday as they trumped the Windsor Lancers (0-5) 3-1 in OUA men's volleyball action in Windsor.
GAME FLOW It was a strong opening for the Gaels who won the first two sets with identical scores of 16-15 at the technical timeouts and 25-21 overall scores in both frames respectively.
The momentum slowed in the third set as the Gaels dropped early points, allowing Windsor to get ahead with a 5-0 lead. The Gaels had only managed to shrink the Lancers lead down to a four point margin by the technical timeout but fought their way back into the game to tie it all up at 24 points. The Lancers still came out on top, winning the set 27-25 off two errors by the Gaels.
The final frame was a tough battle as the teams traded points with Queen's finally getting ahead after a four point run late in the set. With a comfortable lead the Gaels wrapped up the rest of the set as they had the first, trumping Windsor 25-21.
Matt Golas (Toronto) and
Zac Hutcheson (Kingston, Ont.) were big players for the Gaels in their win as they picked up a collective total of 30 points. The Lancers were led by Brad Gyemi who smacked down 19 kills and six digs.
