Greenaway scores winner as Gaels dump No.8 Mustangs 4-3

LONDON, Ont. (November 19, 2015) - Queen's (8-2-0) extended their winning streak to three games after a tough 4-3 win over the No.8 CIS ranked Western Mustangs (9-3-0), the top team in the OUA Western Conference.

Game Flow
Western had the majority of the chances early on in the game, firing 16 shots on net, all of which were stopped by Gaels goaltender Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.). Queen's was the first to break the deadlock though, as forward Ryan Bloom (Calgary) scored his first of the season on a two-on-one break.

The Mustang's offensive press continued into the second period, scoring a goal in the first two minutes, a marker by Shaun Furlong. Twelve minutes later the Mustangs took the lead by one as Ray Huether scored. The Gaels stormed back just moments later. Less than two minutes after Huether's goal, Peter Angelopolous (Nobleton, Ont.) scored his third of the season to tie the game at two. Patrick McGillis (Calgary, Alta.) wanted in on the high scoring second period action, scoring his team-leading sixth of the year to give Queen's a 3-2 lead heading into the final frame.

Western struck even quicker in the thrid. Only 32 seconds in, Spenser Cobbold tied the game at three. Half-way through the period the Gaels got the chance they were looking for, taking the lead with a go-ahead goal by Darcy Greenaway (Wilton, Ont.). Greenaway pushed through to the front of the Mustang net and picked up a rebound that he was able to fire past the Mustang goaltender.

With a 4-3 lead and nine minutes to play, the strong defence and goaltending stood tall. The Gaels held on to the slim lead and came away with a big win, handing the Mustangs just their third loss in 12 games.
