Gaels shutout Concordia 4-0 in Game of the Week

KINGSTON (November 13, 2015) - Queen's (6-2-0) played host to the Concordia Stingers (5-3-0) on Friday night at the Memorial Centre, in front of a great Kingston crowd.

The Gaels took the win in both games versus the Stingers last season and looked to keep that momentum going.

Game Flow
The Gaels took to the ice with a long four minute powerplay early in the first period. With just a couple good chance on net, the Stingers killed it off to keep the game scoreless. The period saw a few chances for each side but with no goals to show for it, both Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) and Robin Billingham shut the door for their respective teams.

Five minutes into the middle frame the Gaels broke the deadlock. On a 3 on 2 rush, Harrison Hendrix (Calgary, Alta.) scored his second of th season to put the home team up by one. Shawn Boudreau (Kentville, NS) and Yannick Laflamme (Thetford Mines, Que.)were creditted with the assists. Concordia killed off their third penalty of the game late in the period, and the game remained at 1-0 going into the third.

Just under five minutes into the final period, the Stingers took a high sticking penalty. The Gaels would take advantage as Patrick McGillis (Calgary, Alta.) scores his fifth of the year to put the home team up by two, and converting on the powerplay for the first time in the game. Just a few minutes later, on a scramble and rebound in front, Shawn Boudreau scored to give the Gaels a 3-0 lead halfway thorugh the third. With some momentum on their side late in the game, Concordia pulled the goalie for the extra attacker with three minutes left. With 32 seconds left, it was Boudreau scoring another one, putting the Gaels up 4-0.

That would be the end of it as Queen's would grab the victory, shutting out the Stingers for their seventh win of the season.
