Women's Volleyball Exhibition Weekend - Gaels finish undefeated

KINGSTON, Ont. (October 2, 2015) - The Queen's women's volleyball team is hosting the Nipissing Lakers and Acadia Axewomen in exhibition matches at the ARC and PEC this weekend.

Day 3
Acadia vs Nipissing
Acadia picked up their second win of the weekend in dramatic fashion after dropping the first two sets to Nipissing they stormed back to grab the next two and finish off the fifth as well for a 3-2 win.

Acadia vs Queen's
The Axewomen kept their momentum going into the second game as they took the first set off of Queen's 25-20. From there the home team took over winning the final three sets to take a 3-1 win and finish the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record.

Day 2

Acadia vs Nipissing
Acadian picked up their first win of the weekend as they took down Nipissing in four sets 3-1. With the win they move to 1-1 and Nipissing falls to 0-2.

Queen's vs Nipissing
The Gaels took their second win of the weekend off of Nipissing once again coming in straight sets. Queen's has yet to lose in an exhibiton match this weekend sitting at 3-0 while the Lakers fell to 0-3 with the loss.

Day 1
Queen's vs Nipissing

The Gaels won the opening exhibition match against Nipissing in straight sets 3-0.

Queen's vs Acadia
The Gaels continued their weekend with another straight 3-0 set win, this time against the Acadia Axewomen. Shannon Hopkins (North Vancouver, B.C.) led the Gaels with eight kills and 10 digs. Despite their loss, the Awewomen had Sarah Ross top the charts with 14 kills on 35 total attempts with nine digs.  

The Gaels dominated from the get-go snapping up a 25-18 win for the first set. With the first set under their belts the Gaels only gained momentum, putting up a 25-14 set win in the second and wrapping up their night with a 25-16 set win in the third.

Tomorrow the Gaels will continue their weekend Invitational meeting Nipissing at 6:00 pm in Bartlett Gym, who they have already trumped once this weekend. The Axewomen will play Nipissing at 1:00 pm in the Bartlett Gym; the two teams are both 0-1 with losses to Queen's. With this win, the Gaels lead the weekend with a 2-0 record.
