TORONTO (October 17, 2015)- The Queen's Gaels (3-0-0-1) women's hockey team played the second half of their back-to-back Toronto road trip on the weekend. Friday they dropped a shootout decision to the No.6 Toronto Varsity Blues 2-1 but were able to bounce back with a 2-0 win over the Ryerson Rams (0-3-0-1) on Saturday afternoon.GAME FLOWThe Gaels out shot the Ryerson Rams in the opening frame, finally breaking the deadlock with just 30 seconds left in the period.
Courtenay Jacklin (Regina) netted her first of the year to put the away team up by one.Â
The second period was an even back and forth frame, with neither team being able to reach the back of the net. Queen's put eight shots on net and Ryerson put 12 on the Gaels goaltender

The intensity and physical play picked up in the third, each team sent three players to the penalty box. Mid-way through the frame, Jessica Hartwick from Ryerson took a Goaltender Interference penalty, and in the final seconds of the Gaels powerplay
Taryn Pilon (Peterborough, Ont.) snapped one past the Rams goalie to give them a 2-0 lead. That would be all the Gaels would need behind 30 saves from Queen's goaltender Lahonen, earning a shutout, her second in one week to start the 2015-16 season.
