TORONTO (September 21, 2014) - Jackie Tessier (Winnipeg) buried a pair of goals on Sunday afternoon to become the Queen's women's soccer all-time scoring leader as the Gaels defeated Toronto 4-0.

Queen's came into their match against the Varsity Blues looking to end their two game losing streak. The Gaels were able to explode offensively as they registered four goals in the first half of the match. Brittany Almeida (Kingston, Ont.) opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when she deposited a header to the back of the net off a scramble. Queen's continued to apply offensive pressure as Tessier and Rachel Radu (Ottawa) buried headers of their own in the 31st and 33rd minutes. Almeida continued to shine offensively as she made two stunning crosses from the right side of the pitch to earn an assist on each goal. The Gaels added to their lead in the 41st minute after Melissa Jung (Mississauga, Ont.) found Tessier with a beautiful through ball from the defensive end. Tessier switched the ball from her left to right foot and deposited her second of the game to the inside of the right post. With that goal, Tessier is now the Queen's women's soccer all-time scoring leader with an incredible 54 goals in her Gaels career. 

Queen's entered the second half looking to preserve the lead and earn their fourth win of the season. Gaels keeper Madison Tyrell (White Rock, B.C.) managed to keep Toronto off of the scoresheet as she registered three saves in the second half and four overall. Tyrell is currently leading all OUA keepers with an incredible five clean-sheets on the season. 

Sara Petrucci was in goal for Toronto, making one save in the loss.

The Gaels (4-2-1) are set to return to action on Saturday as they travel to Oshawa, Ontario to battle the UOIT (5-0-1) team that handed Queen's their first loss of the season.
