Oshawa, Ont. (September 27, 2014) - The women's soccer team battled the No.5 UOIT Ridgebacks to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.
It did not take long for the Gaels to grab the lead as
Jessie de Boer (Vancouver) netted her first goal of the season in the 19th minute.
Brittany Almeida (Kingston, Ont.) collected the assist, giving her four points over the past two games. The Ridgebacks quickly responded with a goal of their own from Cassandra Sribny to knot the score in the 24th minute.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the second half as
Madison Tyrell (White Rock, B.C.) of the Gaels and Melissa Linton of the Ridgebacks turned aside all shots that came their way. Tyrell registered four saves over the match, bring her record to 4-2-2 on the season. With today's tie, Queen's failed to gain ground on any of the four teams that lie ahead of them in the OUA East Division standings.Â
The Gaels (4-2-2) are set to return to Kingston to battle the Trent Excalibur (2-5-1) tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. on Miklas-McCarney Field.
