De Boer Scores Twice in Gaels 4-0 Win against Trent

KINGSTON, Ont. (September 28, 2014) - Jessie de Boer (Vancouver) netted two goals as the Gaels shutout the Trent Excalibur 4-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Gaels dominated play from the start of the match, opening the scoring in the seventh minute. De Boer intercepted a Trent pass and buried a powerful strike in the top left corner. Two minutes later, she collected her second tally of the afternoon, scoring on a give-and-go with Tara Bartram (Vancouver). The Gaels continued to pour on the offensive pressure, adding a third goal in the 20th minute. Matija Skoko (Toronto) got her first goal of the season after finishing a cross from Rachel Radu (Ottawa).

The Gaels generated numerous scoring chances to begin the second half as they looked to add to their lead. Emma Smith (Toronto) and Bartram came close to finding the back of the net, but could not beat Trent's replacement keeper Emily Webb. Gaels backup goaltender Michaila Frawley (Victoria, B.C.) kept Trent off the board after replacing Madison Tyrell (White Rock, B.C.) at halftime. Queen's would eventually add a fourth goal in the 88th minute, when Savannah Meyer-Clement (Markham, Ont.) stripped Trent's keeper of the ball and guided it into the open net.

Queen's keepers Tyrell and Frawley registered two saves apiece to earn the combined clean sheet.

The Gaels (5-2-2) return to action Wednesday evening when they travel to Ottawa to battle the Carleton Ravens (5-2-2).
