Lue leads Gaels at CFL combine

| By:
TORONTO (March 24, 2014) – Four Gaels participated in the 2014 Canadian Football League combine in Toronto on the weekend, showcasing their talent for scouts, coaches, and general managers in hopes of earning a positive evaluation for the upcoming CFL draft in May.

Billy McPhee (Burlington, Ont.), Scott Macdonell (Montreal), Derek Wiggan (Toronto), and Andrew Lue (Markham, Ont.) took to the drills and tests from March 21-23.

Of the four Gaels who participated at the combine, Lue made the biggest splash. Ranked as the number 8 prospect heading into the evaluation weekend, Lue posted some impressive numbers, snagging first in the Broad Jump (10'5"), second in the 3-Cone Drill (7.07s), and tying for fifth in the Vertical Jump (36.5"). Such tests evaluate agility and explosiveness, both of which are key aspects for a defensive back, such as Lue.

The CFL combine is the last chance for players to be seen on the field in person, but there is still time for the evaluators to make decisions before draft day arrives on May 13th
