The Gaels are in action on numerous fronts this week. Here's a rundown of when and where to catch your Gaels in action, including home playoff games for men's hockey and women's basketball while women's hockey competes for the OUA championship.
Women's Hockey
The No. 8 Gaels return to the OUA championship after beating the Guelph Gryphons in the deciding game of their best-of-three series 2-1 last Sunday. The Gaels will look to defend their OUA title against the No. 4 Laurier Golden Hawks who won their best-of-three semifinal against Toronto in the final game 2-1. The two teams went to overtime in each of their two meetings in the regular season with Laurier winning on both occasions with goals in the extra frame. The Gaels are led in net by Mel Dodd-Moher (Stittsville, Ont.) as the fifth-year goaltender has started every game for Queen's in the playoffs and has the best save percentage at 0.955 while she sits second in goals against average at 1.11. The Golden Hawks defender Blair Connelly leads all defense in points this playoffs with six in five games which also ranks her third amongst all skaters. |

Clare McKellar (London, Ont.) is a player to watch for the Gaels. The OUA All-Rookie finished off the regular season second in the rookie scoring race with 20 points in 23 games. She has continued to contribute offensively in the playoffs and leads all rookies in the post-season with four points in five games.Â

Women's BasketballÂ
The No. 10 Queen's Gaels advanced to the OUA East final after dispatching the Toronto Varsity Blues 67-56 at the ARC Main Gym last Saturday at 6pm. A guaranteed berth in the CIS Championships, hosted by Windsor March 14-16, is on the line as the Gaels will host the Carleton Ravens. Liz Boag (Kingston, Ont.) led all scorers in the win over Toronto with 21 points while Jenny Wright (Kingston, Ont.) added 16 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Carleton had no trouble dispatching their city rivals Ottawa with a 57-39 win on home court. Elizabeth Roach has led the Ravens all season and did so once more in the playoffs with 17 points and five assists. The Gaels enter this matchup having won eight straight games which includes a 63-58 win over Carleton at the ARC back on February 8. Gemma Bullard (Guelph, Ont.) led the way for Queen's in the game scoring a game high of 19 points. Queen's, who was ranked last week for the first time since 2003-04, finishes the CIS Top Ten rankings at No. 10 in the country. The winner of this game will advance to play at the winner of Laurier and Windsor next Saturday March 8th.

Jenny Wright (Kingston, Ont.) is a player to watch for the Gaels. Â Wright averaged 13.0 points per game to lead the Gaels this season. Wright has scored 10 or more points in six straight games for Queen's which includes her 16 points last weekend against Toronto. She finished 6th in the CIS in free-throw percentage at 84.0.

Men's HockeyÂ
The Gaels enter the OUA East semifinals with a best-of-three matchup against the top team in the East the No. 5 Carleton Ravens. The Gaels enter the second round of the playoffs after sweeping their first round opponent the Ottawa Gee-Gees winning at home 3-2 and in Ottawa 2-1. Chris Van Laren (Kingston, Ont.) had a pair of third period goals to give Queen's the win at home and Braeden Corbeth (Oakville, Ont.) scored with just 23 seconds left in game two to put Queen's up 2-1 and seal the win. The Ravens are coming off a sweep in their opening round series as well, having beat the Nipissing Lakers in two straight winning 4-2 in North Bay and 4-0 at home. Both goaltenders were sharp in their opening series as Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) stopped 59 of 62 shots in the series while the Ravens Francis Dupuis stopped 49 of 51 and registered a shutout in game two. |

Chris Van Laren (Kingston, Ont.) is a player to watch for the Gaels. The former Guelph Storm assistant captain finished tied for lead in team scoring with 20 points during the regular season. The mark put him sixth in the OUA amongst defencemen and with two goals in the playoffs he leads all OUA defenders in goals this post-season.

Wrestling:Â The Gaels will have one representative at the CIS Championship hosted by the University of New Brunswick this weekend as New Brunswick native Jean Francoise Godin will be competing in the 65kg after taking bronze at the OUA Championship two weeks ago.
