Guelph, Ontario (November 8, 2014) - The No.4 women's hockey team suffered their first regulation loss of the season on Saturday after being defeated 1-0 against the No.8 Guelph Gryphons on the road.
Guelph's Brittany St. James tallied the lone goal of the afternoon just over five minutes into the opening frame. The Gaels had four powerplay opportunities in the game, but could not beat Gryphons goaltender Stephanie Nehring. Final shots for the match totalled 25-16 in favour of Guelph.
Caitlyn Lahonen (Sharon, Ont.) made her fifth start of the season in net for Queen's, registering 24 saves in the loss, while Nehring collected the 16-save shutout.
The No.4 Gaels (5-1-2) will look to end their current three game losing streak Sunday afternoon when they travel to St. Catharines, Ontario to take on the winless Brock Badgers (0-4-2).
