TORONTO (November 14, 2014) - The Queen's men's hockey team recorded a season-high 52 shots but could not bury the equalizer as the were defeated 3-2 on the road versus the Ryerson Rams on Friday night in Toronto.
Ryerson grabbed the first lead of the night in the opening frame on a goal from Victor Terreri. The Gaels responded three minutes later with a powerplay tally from
Kelly Jackson (Scarborough, Ont.).
Spencer Abraham (Campbellville, Ont.) and
Warren Steele (Williamsburg, Ont.) were credited with the assists on Jackson's first of the season. Lucas Froese of the Rams added a powerplay goal in the final minute of the period to give Ryerson the 2-1 advantage heading into the intermission.Â
The Rams added to their lead as Domenic Alberga buried the lone goal of the middle frame.Â
The Gaels were able to reduce the deficit to one after
Braeden Corbeth (Oakville, Ont.) deposited his third of the season, but could not add another as Ryerson held on for the 3-2 victory. Final shots for the game totalled 52-40 in favour of Queen's.
Goaltender
Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) started in net for the Gaels and was charged with the 37-save loss, while Ryerson's Troy Passingham earned the impressive 50-save victory.
The Gaels (5-5-0) return to action on the road Saturday night when they battle the Toronto Varsity Blues (4-6-1) at Varsity Arena in Toronto.
