OTTAWA (January 25, 2014) - The Gaels defeated the No. 10 Ottawa Gee-Gees this Saturday evening 57-46 in overtime, putting them one win behind the Gee-Gees in the OUA East Division.
Both teams began the first quarter energized, with the Gee-Gees narrowly outscoring the Gaels 14-11 in the first quarter. The Gee-Gees maintained their momentum in the second quarter, ending the first half with 22-18 lead over the Gaels.
The Gaels, determined to earn the win came out in the third quarter strong both offensively and defensively outscoring the Gee-Gees by six points. The Gee-Gees continued to battle hard against the Gaels outscoring them by two in the final quarter and forcing the game into overtime.
The Gaels managed to clinch the win in overtime outscoring Ottawa 14-3 and earning a well deserved 57-46 victory.
Jenny Wright (Kingston, Ont.) was a pivotal force in the overtime frame for the Gaels accounting for eight of the 14 points scored.
