Western comes back to beat Queen's 3-1

BOX SCORE LONDON Ont. (January 18, 2014) - After going ahead one set to nothing, Queen's fell behind as the Western Mustangs stormed back to win Saturday night's matchup 3-1 in London, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22, and 25-17.

The Gaels were content to set an on fire Mike Tomlinson (Stratford, Ont.), who had his second consecutive 23-kill game to go with four aces against the Mustangs. The next best Gael was Will Sidgwick (Toronto) with 9 kills and 10 digs, followed by Scott Brunet (Calgary), who pocketed 5 kills with zero attacking errors. Ivo Dramov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) also picked up 10 digs in the loss.

Garrett May kept pace for Western with 21 kills, while Justin Scapinello contributed 14 kills of his own. Sean Mckay led the Mustangs defensively with 14 digs, and Phil James put up an impressive 5.5 blocks.

Queen's is back on the road next weekend to take on Nipissing on Saturday and York on Sunday. Both games will start at 4pm.
