BOX SCORE Toronto, Ont. (February 9, 2013) – The Queen's Gaels men's basketball team (10-9) was in action Saturday evening against the York Lions at The Tait McKenzie Centre, falling just short 90-84.

The Gaels could not hold their 48-45 first half lead, being outscored marginally in each of the following three quarters. Nikola Misljencevic (Ottawa) had another career setting night beating last nights total of 24 points, scoring a game and personal best 28 points—this is also the most points scored by any Gaels player this season. The third-year forward shot a near perfect 80% from three point range, contributing 12 points from beyond the arc as well as eight rebounds.

Misljencevic got the tricolour rolling early, contributing seven of Queen's 11 points to start the first quarter. York had no answer for the Gaels hot shooting in the opening quarter with Mackenzie Simpson (Ottawa) pitching in two three balls and the games most dominating player, Misljencevic, pitching in an additional basket from deep. Queen's finished the frame with a 29-23 point lead.
 
York quickly gained some momentum in the second with Akeem Isaac (Scarborough, Ont.) recording 15 of the Lion's 22 second quarter points. The Gaels still held an advantage however, going into the break leading 48-45.
 
Veteran guard James Asefa (Toronto) was able to make a statement early in the third, knocking down a three. York was able to answer though, with distributed scoring amongst their starting line. The Lions outscored the Gaels 23-19 in the third to pull ahead by one point heading into the final quarter.
 
Despite another strong effort from Misljencevic in the fourth, recording over half of the Gaels points in the quarter, Queen's could not stop York and generate enough turnovers to climb back from their slim deficit losing 90-84.

The Gaels will take in a bye week before they travel to Sudbury to take on the Laurentian Voyageurs in the OUA quarterfinal the following week.
