BOX SCORE LONDON, Ont. (November 8, 2013) - The men's basketball team (3-0) defeated the Western Mustangs (0-3) 82-74 in London Ontario, Friday night.
Â
The Gaels started off the game on a 4-0 run with
Sukhpreet Singh (Toronto) and
Roshane Roberts (Vaughan) pushing the pace. Gregory Morrow of the Mustangs, who finished the game with 23 points, helped fend off the Gaels energy as Western led Queen's 40-37 at the half.
The Gaels would not be trailing for long as Queen's shot 52% from the three and 50% from the floor for the night. The offensive presence from
Mackenzie Simpson (Ottawa) sparked the Gaels to a 24-14 scoring differential in the third. Queen's led 61-54 at the beginning of the fourth, but the Mustangs were not defeated yet. Sloppy passing and fouls helped Western stay in the game, allowing them to score with the clock stopped.
None the less, Queen's persisted on their offensive attack. With 1:30 left on the clock, a strong finish at the hoop by Simpson was followed up quick by a steal and dunk by Greg Faulker (Kingston, Ont.). The Gaels held on to win it 82-74, with Simpson leading his team with 26 points and five rebounds. Faulkner had a great game as well, contributing 14 points and six assists in the Gaels third victory of the season.

The Gaels travel to Windsor next, to take on the Lancers on Saturday November 9
th at 8pm.
