Bishop powers Gaels over Badgers in five sets

BOX SCORE ST. CATHARINES, Ont. (October 27, 2013) - Kelsey Bishop (North Vancouver, B.C.) finished with a game high 18 kills as the Gaels picked up their first win of the season beating Brock 3-2 with set scores 25-20, 27-29, 26-24, 21-25, 15-6.

Along with her 18 kills, Bishop added 17 digs, second to Brett Hagarty (Aurora, Ont.) who finished with 20 on the day. In total, four separate Gaels finished with double-digit dig totals and Katie Hagarty (Aurora, Ont.) was a force in the middle with 14 kills on 26 attempts.

The Badgers were led by Lauren Stirling who finshed with 10 digs while adding 33 assists as the setter.

The game was never really out of reach for either opponent on the day, with the largest point margin in a set coming in the final one where the Gaels outlasted Brock with a nine point advantage 15-6. Both teams battled all afternoon sending two sets to extra points but the Gaels survived and took the win.

Up next for Queen's is their home opener on Sunday at 1pm at the ARC in Kingston. The Gaels will host their cross town rival RMC.
