Gaels lose season-opener in straight sets to No. 10 Gee-Gees

BOX SCORE OTTAWA (October 25, 2013) - Brett Hagarty (Aurora, Ont.) led the Gaels offense as Queen's lost 25-20, 25-20, and 25-23 to the No. 10 Ottawa Gee-Gees on the road Friday night.
 
The Gaels battled back in the third set of their season-opener, leading 21-19 in the final few minutes. A strategic Ottawa timeout helped Ottawa regain their composure as they closed out the set to win the match.
 
Hitting out of the left-side, the Gaels Brett Hagarty and Ottawa's Myriam English led their teams with 10 and 18 kills, respectively.
 
Shannon Neville (Cambridge, Ont.) led the Gaels defensive efforts on the night with eight digs. Kelsey Bishop (North Vancouver) also made an impact defensively, recording four blocks.
 
The Gaels (0-1) are back in action on Sunday afternoon, when they travel to St. Catherines take on the Brock Badgers (1-1) at 1pm.
