Queen's drops 4-0 loss to Guelph on the road

BOX SCORE GUELPH, Ont. – Riley Whitlock (Calgary, Alta.) had 34 saves for the Queen's Gaels in a 4-0 loss to the Guelph Gryphons Saturday night.
 
With an offensively slow start for the Gaels, the Gryphons were able to penetrate the defence at 15:08 with a goal scored by Brett Appio (Bolton, Ont.). Jordan Mock (Dartmouth, N.S.) added another quick goal for the Gryphons at the 16:27 mark of the first period. Guelph outshot Queen's 12-4 in the first period.
 
The Gryphons carried their 2-0 lead into the second period. Despite a number of scoring chances, the Gaels were unable to get on the board. Jon-Thomas MacDonald (Niagara Falls, Ont.) added a third goal for the Gryphons at 19:10 in the second period putting Guelph up 3-0. MacDonald added another goal for the Gryphons at the 10:23 mark in the third period putting Guelph up 4-0. The remainder of the third period was scoreless.
 
Brandon Maxwell (Guelph, Ont.) stopped 22 shots for the Gryphons. The Gaels are now 4-3-2 and the Gryphons move to 7-4-1.
 
The Gaels return to action Thursday, November 15, in Toronto as they face the Ryerson Rams. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
