KINGSTON, Ont. – The Queen's University Department of Athletics & Recreation is proud to host the 2012 OUA Women's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday and Sunday. Nine teams will descend on Tindall and the West Campus Fields in the annual battle for the Patterson Cup, emblematic of provincial lacrosse supremacy.
Action at Tindall and the West Campus Fields starts at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, with the Gaels' opening game set for 10:15 a.m. against the McMaster Marauders at the West Campus Field. Play continues throughout the day Saturday, with the semifinals set for 5 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on the West Campus Field. The full schedule follows this release.
The Gaels, who are seeking their first Patterson Cup since 1999, come into the tournament with a 5-6 overall record and the second seed in the East region. The defending champions are the Western Mustangs, who enter this year's event as the top seed from the West. Guelph is the other top seed, and they are looking for their first title.
The tournament concludes with four games on Sunday, starting at 8:30 a.m. The bronze medal game is set for 1:45 p.m., with the OUA Championship game starting at 3:45 p.m.
Admission to the tournament is free.
