KINGSTON, Ont. (September 17, 2011) A late game conversion by Bronwyn Corrigan of Waterloo pushed the Queen's Gaels (2-0) over the Brock Badgers (0-2) on Queen's West Campus field.

The Gaels (2-0) started off with a strong defense against the Brock Badgers (0-2), as they quickly saw themselves in their own end. The Gaels continued to fight with huge tackles made by centers Melanie Judges of Ottawa and Andrea Wadsworth of Toronto. However, the Badgers were the first to put points on the board after scoring a successful penalty kick, making the score 3-0.

The Gaels came back fighting, with a solid team try scored by Wadsworth, leaving the score 5-3 with Queen's on top. However, continuous penalties from the Gaels gave Brock another opportunity to kick for points; this time proved to be unsuccessful for the Badgers.

Brock came back strong, but Queen's continued to fight them off with a try-saving tackle from Samantha Trinier of Toronto. Also contributing to the Gaels defense were kicks from rookie Lauren Mcewen of Newmarket and Bronwyn Corrigan of Waterloo.

Queen's defense proved to be successful yet again, after remarkable cross covering from Sarah Pathak of Toronto, creating pressure on Brock's offense.

However, the Gaels faced problems in the scrums as Brock stole the ball from Queen's on several occasions. Queen's also continued to cause penalties, giving Brock another opportunity for points. Brock was unsuccessful in their kick again, leaving the score at 5-3.

The Gaels started off the second half on the defensive again, seeing big tackles from Sonja Moroz of Ottawa, Taylor White of Bancroft and Kayla Roote of Peterborough.

After another penalty from Queen's, Brock was successful in their kick, taking the lead with a score of 6-5. This didn't last long, as Corrigan was able to contribute a successful penalty kick as well, making the score 8-6 for the Gaels.

The second half also saw amazing defense from rookie Danielle Underwood of Toronto and Pathak. But the Gaels continued to to cause penalties, allowing the Badgers to make another successful penalty kick, taking the lead at 9-8.

The Badgers continued to play a strong game against the Gaels, resulting in a try with an unsuccessful conversion making the score 14-8 late in the game.

With time running out, Queen's gained possession of the ball with tackles by Moroz and Roote. Wadsworth was able to pass the ball to Mcewen, who scored a game saving try for the Gaels after a seventy meter run. With a successful conversion from Corrigan, the Gaels took the lead with a score of 15-14.

The game ended on a high note, as tackles from Underwood and Wadsworth caused enough pressure on the Badger's offense to cause a knock on. The Gaels ended the game with a win and final score of 15-14.

The Queen's Gaels will face the York Lions in Toronto on Friday, September 23 at 7pm.
