OTTAWA (January 29, 2011) - The Queen's Gaels dropped their third straight OUA men's basketball game on Saturday losing 81-41 to the Carleton Ravens in Ottawa.
For the second straight evening, the Gaels struggled offensively in the first half posting a mere 14 points.
On Friday, Queen's also managed 14 points in the first two quarters of play.
Matthew Baker of Kingston was Queen's only scorer to break double-digits recording 11 points.
Carleton's Will Manigat of Montreal was the game's leading scorer with 16 points. Cole Hobin of Ashton, Ont., and Philip Scrubb of Richmond, B.C., each registered 12 points in the win.
Carleton would hold a 40-14 lead at halftime and while the Gaels offense would score 13 points in the third quarter, the Ravens poured it on with 24 of their own. Carleton would go on to win the fourth quarter 17-14 and close with an easy 81-41 win.
The loss puts Queen's record at 3-14 and they sit six points behind Laurentian for the final playoff position in the OUA East. Carleton's record sits at 17-0 and are the only team in the nation with a perfect record - they lead the OUA East Division.
Queen's looks to break their three game losing streak next weekend against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday (Feb. 4) inside the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC) at Queen's. Last weekend, the Gaels stunned the second place Varsity Blues in Toronto with a 80-66 upset victory. Tip off is set for 8:00pm.
