Gaels fall 6-2 on the road

| By:
TORONTO (January 13, 2011) - Despite a hot start which saw them score four minutes into the game, the Queen's Gaels could not sustain a lead as they fell to the Ryerson Rams by a 6-2 score.

Rookie forward Daniel Mandel of Toronto opened the scoring for the Gaels just four minutes in to the contest to give Queen's an early lead. The Gaels couldn't take the advantage out of the period however as they gave up two goals before the intermission.

Queen's were the first to score again in the second as another rookie, Jordan Soquila of Maple Ridge, B.C. scored two minutes into the period to tie the game. This was the last goal the Gaels would score on the night as Ryerson responded on the power play in the middle of the second period before adding another three in the third.

The Gaels received production from six different players in the game. Mandel and Soquila each scored a goal while Prince Albert, Saskatchewan's Marcus Halcro, Ottawa's Chris Murphy, Toronto's Kelly Jackson, and Timmins, Ontario's Brandon Perry each contributed an assist. Clandeboyne, Manitoba's David Aime got the start in goal for the Gaels and turned away 25 of 30 shots.

The Gaels will not receive much of a break before their next game as they play the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday. This is a pivotal game for the Gaels as they sit one point ahead of Toronto in the OUA East standings. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 at Toronto's Varsity Arena.
