OTTAWA (February 17, 2010) – Payton Liske of Welland, Ont., scored with 4:03 remaining in overtime, handing the Queen's Gaels a 4-3 victory and a 1-0 series lead in the best of three OUA men's east hockey quarter-final against the Carleton Ravens.

Gaels netminder Steele De Fazioof Georgetown, Ont., stopped 40 of 43 shots on the night for the Gaels including all five he faced in the overtime frame.

Jordan Mirwaldt of Winnipeg, appeared to put the nail in the coffin, snipping his first of the playoffs with under five minutes to go. However, in a late barrage, the Ravens netted two goals in the final three minutes to tie the score at 3-3. The third came with just 50 seconds left by Raven forward Ryan Berard of Niagara Falls, Ont.

In overtime, Liske netted the game winner with assists coming from Mirwaldt and Jeffery Johnstone of Etobicoke, Ont. Liske and Mirwaldt each recorded a goal and assist while Clinton McCullough of Aurora, Ont., registered two assists in the win.

The series now shifts back to Queen's as both teams will travel to Kingston for a Friday evening rematch. Game two is scheduled for the Kingston Memorial Centre on Feb. 19 at 7:30pm. The Gaels will aim to sweep the playoff series allowing them to move onto the OUA east semifinal set for next week.
