Carleton 108, Gaels 65

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 13, 2010) – The Queen's Gaels (10-11) dropped their OUA East Division match-up against the first-place No. 3 Carleton Ravens (18-2), 108-65 on Saturday evening at the Athletics & Recreation Centre (ARC).

Carleton's Kevin McCleery of Ottawa was the game's top player recording 27 points in 24 minutes of play. Elliot Thompson of Fredericton, N.B. also cracked the 20-point barrier with 22.

Queen's top player was Ryan Hairsine of St. Mary's Ont., who dropped 14 points and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. First-year guard Jamies Asefa of Toronto posted a career high 12 points in the loss. His previous high was seven points against Windsor on Nov. 20.

Mitch Leger of Kingston, Ont., ran into foul trouble entering the third quarter and only registered 19 minutes of play. Leger tallied nine points and was the games second best rebounder with five points.

The loss drops Queen's record below .500 with just a single contest remaining against Royal Military College (RMC). In other action, Ryerson edged York 69-66 while Toronto defeated Laurentian 82-72. With Ryerson and Toronto earning wins, they move into a three-way tie with the Gaels for third place of the OUA East Division. Both teams have a game in hand on the Gaels.

The win improves Carleton record to 18-2 and they sit atop the East Division with 38 points. No. 6 Ottawa is in second place just two points behind.

Queen's will host RMC on Saturday, February 20 to conclude the regular season at the Athletics & Recreation Centre (ARC). Tipoff is set for 8:00pm. For ticket information contact 613.533-2500.

NOTES: Three players were honoured prior to the game on 'Graduating Player Night'- Mitch Leger (Kingston, Ont.) Baris Ondul (Istanbul, Turkey) and Ryan Hairsine (St. Mary's, Ont.) ... The combined attendance for both men's and women's game on Saturday was 1,581. The mark is the most since the Athletics & Recreation Centre opened in January with a seating capacity of 1,904.
