Jonathon Lawrance of Steinbach, Man., and
Scott Kenway of Calgary tallied four points each, but it wasn't enough as the Queen's men's hockey team lost a 7-5 decision to the Concordia Stingers on Saturday.
Lawrance would finish the night with two goals and two assists while Kenway would tally a goal and three assits in the loss.
The Gaels twice held two goal leads but failed to hold them in the disappointing loss. Kenway and Lawrance scored in the first period to hold a 2-0 after one. The two teams combined for six goals in the second period leaving the score at 4-4 heading into the third.
In the third, Concordia's Danile Michalsky of Aurora, Ont. would give the Stingers a 5-4 lead before Lawrance tied the game with his second goal of the game just two minutes later at 8:15.
Charles-Antoine Messier of Boucherville, Que. recorded the game winner at 13:23 of the third period before Concordia added an empty net goal with two seconds remaining.
David Aime of Clandeboye, Man., made 28 saves on 34 shots in the loss for Queen's while his counterpart Maxime Joyal of La Salle, Que., made 21 saves on 26 shots in the win.
The loss sees the Gaels record fall to 5-4-1 holding sixth place in the OUA East with 11 points. They trail Ottawa by a single point for fifth place. Concordia improves to 7-3-0. They move into third place with 14 points.
Queen's will be back in action next Friday as they take on the UQTR Patriotes at the Kingston Memorial Centre. The game is set for 7:30pm and this is the first of three November games for the men's team which will feature a revised start-time from their normal 8:30pm start time.
