KINGSTON, Ont. (October 9, 2010) – Toronto's Kelly Jackson scored two goals and two assists but the Queen's Gaels couldn't contain the Concordia Stingers offence as they dropped a high scoring affair by a score of 8-5.

Joining Jackson as key contributors were David Chubb (St. George's, Nfld.) and Joey Derochie (Sudbury, Ont.) who each added a goal and an assist. Brock Ouellet (Lindsay, Ont.) had a tally of his own to round out the goal scoring for Queen's. Of the remaining point getters, Alexi Pianosi (Halifax) was the leader with two assists while Kingston, Ontario's Ben Munroe and Robert Stellick (Mississauga, Ont.) added one assist each. Steele De Fazio (Georgetown, Ont.) was solid coming off of the bench in goal as he stopped 29 of 32 shots in the loss.

The Gaels got themselves into penalty trouble early in this game which put them in a hole during the first period. Queen's took three penalties within five minutes towards the end of the first period, and Concordia capitalized by scoring two power play goals. Concordia added an even strength goal immediately after a Queen's penalty and a shorthanded goal before the end of the first to end the period with a 4-0 lead over the host Gaels.

Queen's starting goaltender David Aime (Clandeboyne, Man.) made 8 saves on 12 shots in the first period.

Steele De Fazio of Georgetown, Ont., took over in net for Queen's to start the second period, but Concordia found the back of the net once again roughly eight minutes into the period to take a five goal lead. The Gaels quickly rebounded however as Derochie and Jackson scored their goals within 16 seconds of each other at the 12 minute mark to put Queen's back within striking distance at 5-2.

Concordia would go on to add one more tally before the period expired though to go into the intermission with a 6-2 lead.

Queen's found their scoring touch in the third period as they found a way to crack the Concordia defence. Chubb scored his goal five minutes into the third to keep the game close again at 6-3. However, the Gaels couldn't make up ground soon enough  as Concordia made it 7-3 ten minutes later.

Queen's would go on to add two more goals (from Ouellet and Jackson) in two minutes to bring the score close again at 7-5.

Kelly Jackson's goal with 51 seconds left was the Gaels lone power play tally on the night as the unit went 1 for 11.

Concordia sealed the game by way of an empty netter with 15 seconds remaining.

The loss puts the Gaels record at 1-1-0 in OUA play this season as they won their season opener 7-6 over Ottawa. The Gaels next game comes this Friday at the University of Toronto. Puck drop is set for 7:30 pm.
