KINGSTON, Ont. (October 8, 2010) – The Queen's men's basketball team needed overtime to beat the Bishop's Gaiters in their second home exhibition game of the season. Bernard Burgesson (Port Hawkesbury, N.S.) led the Gaels with 23 points, including 50% shooting from three point territory, leading the Gales to the 75-68 victory.

The Gaels led 35-30 at halftime, primarily by forcing Bishop's to commit 14 tournovers. The Gaiter's Oraine Green (Toronto, Ont.) had 11 first half points, finishing the game with a team-high 21 points. Chris East (Toronto, Ont.) finished the game with a game-high 14 rebounds for Bishop's

Queen's kept the game close all through the fourth quarter, exchanging leads multiple times. Down 63-60 with 41 seconds left, Timothy Boyle (Belleville, Ont.) hit a desperation three over the arms of a Gaiter's defender, eventually forcing an overtime period. Boyle finished with nine points and team-high four steals.

The overtime period had the Gaels in control of both the pace and the game, building a lead as big as eight. Dan Bannister (Newmarket, Ont.) scored five of the Gaels' 12 points in the extra frame. Bannister finished with 21 points and seven rebounds, playing a team high 41 minutes.

The Gaels head to Saskatoon for the University of Saskatchewan Invitational Tournament on October 14th, the first of two exhibition tournaments on the road. The regular season begins with a home matchup against the Laurier Golden Hawks on November 5th, 8:00pm in the ARC Main Gym.
