Gaels continue exhibition slump at Redbird Classic

MONTREAL (October 24, 2010) – Queen's finished the Redbird Classic Invitational Men's Basketball tournament with a 79-67 loss to host McGill on Sunday in Montreal.

The Gaels went 0-3 over the course of the weekend in play against Western, UPEI and McGill. Western wound up winning the event with a perfect 3-0 record. Queen's Tim Boyle of Belleville, Ont. was named to the Tournament All-Star Team.

In the game against McGill rookie Nikola Misljencevic of Ottawa led the Gaels dropping 24 points in the loss. He also recorded seven rebounds to lead Queen's. Jereome Josz of Chevy Chase, MD, USA., had 17 points, while Boyle had 14.

On Friday, the Gaels got off to a tough start losing 102-75 to the Western Mustangs. Western pulled away early in the first quarter, and the Gaels despite some decent play could not mount a comeback. Boyle was the Gaels top scorer with 19 points while Kingston's Matthew Baker had 16 in the loss. Also breaking the 10 point barrier were Alex Weatherhill of Hamilton with 13 and Chris Barrett of Vancouver, who had 10.

Saturday's game saw Queen's fall 87-65 to UPEI. Misljencevic posted 13 points while both Barrett and Boyle earned 11 points each.

The Gaels will have a short break and kickoff the 2010-11 season at home against the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks on November 5th. Game time is set for 8:00pm following the women's game at the Athletics & Recreation Centre (ARC). Tickets are available by calling 613-533-2500.
