ST. CATHARINES, Ont. (October 23, 2010) –
Natalie Gray of Oshawa, Ont., recorded her second straight double-double, leading the Gaels to a five set victory over the Brock Badgers (18-25, 23-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-10). The Gaels improve to 2-0 on the season after an opening day win over Toronto.
Gray paced the Gaels with 17 kills and a service ace to lead the Gaels with 18 points. She also contributed 15 of the 105 digs that Queen's had on the day. Setter Julie Lockwood of Calgary, had 52 assists for the Gaels. Katie Matthews of Aurora, Ont., led the game with five solo blocks.
Brock was led by Shannon Anderson of Newmarket, Ont., who finished with a game high 19 points, including 16 kills. Anderson also had a double-double with 20 digs. Setter Ally Fast of St. Catharines, Ont. had 42 assists in the game, as well as two aces.
The Gaels play their first home game of the season on October 30th at 6:00pm, hosting the Lakehead Thunderwolves at the ARC Main Gym. That game will mark the first of eight straight home league games for the Gaels.
