Gaels to have new coach for the 2010 season

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (January 29, 2010) - Queen's Athletics & Recreation announced Friday that they will be looking for a new men's soccer coach for the 2010 season.

Carlo Cannovan, who coached the team since 2008, leaves the team due to personal and professional commitments which do not afford him the time required for responsibilities with the Gaels.

“We thank Carlo for his leadership and commitment to our men's soccer program over the course of the last two seasons,” said Janean Sergeant, Manager Inter-university Sport Program. “He is an excellent coach and we wish him and his family all the best in the future.”

During his two seasons at the helm Cannovan secured a 12-8-8 record qualifying for the OUA playoffs twice. The team's best finish came this season when the Gaels finished second in the OUA East Division losing in the OUA Quarter-Finals to Carleton.

Athletics & Recreation are in the midst of beginning the search process for a new Head Coach; details will be announced via the Gaels website (www.gogaelsgo.com) in the coming days. In the interim all men's soccer inquires can be directed to Assistant Coach Justin Hall at qmsoccer@queensu.ca.
