KINGSTON, Ont. (January 17, 2010) – Playing their first game in the new Athletics & Recreation Centre (ARC), the Queen's Gaels knocked off the visiting York Lions in straight sets on Sunday afternoon.

The Gaels came out swinging in the opening set as they built a big lead and took the first set 25-17. The Lions would hang tight the rest of the way but the duo of Joren Zeeman of Cambridge, Ont., and Bryan Fautley of Oakville, Ont., proved to be too much for the Lions to handle. Queen's took the final two sets 25-22 and 25-23.

Fautley had an excellent all-around game for Queen's picking up 11 kills, five digs and two stuff blocks. Zeeman also had 11 kills on the day and had four digs and two aces.

Jordan Matthews of Ajax, Ont., led the Lions on the day with nine kills and seven digs. Felipe Humana-Paredes of Toronto was the leading point-getter for York with 12 points.

The Gaels, who improved to 10-2 on the season, will be back in action next Friday night when they host the McMaster Marauders at 8:00 pm.
