McLaughlin nets six goals in weekend split

LONDON, Ont. (September 19, 2009) – Lisa McLaughlin of Whitby, Ont., registered nine points over two games as the Queen's Gaels split their opening two matches of the 2009 OUA women's lacrosse season. 

Mclaughlin tallied four goals and two assists in a 19-6 win over the McMaster Marauders early on Saturday morning. She followed up her six point performance by netting two more goals and an assist in a narrow 15-14 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday afternoon. 

Marsha Cryderman of Bowmanville, Ont. also had an impressive opening weekend posting a hat-trick against McMaster and adding two more against Toronto. Overall she tallied seven points in two games. 

The sister duo of Martha and Gwyneth Ross (both of Newton, Mass.,) recorded nine goals together with Martha netting six and Gwyneth scoring three over the two games. 

Other multi-scorers were Jacqueline Byers (5 goals) and Sara Goldspink (2 goals). Both Byers and Goldspink hail from Mississauga, Ont. 

Next week, Queen's will travel to Toronto for a three game set against Laurier, Western and host Toronto.
